🌟 Trustees’ Week | 3–7 November 2025 🌟
This week marks Trustees’ Week across the UK — a celebration of the nearly one million trustees who dedicate their time and expertise to strengthening charities and communities nationwide.
At WMWA, we are proud to highlight the remarkable women who guide and support our work. Their commitment, knowledge, and passion help ensure that our services reach those who need them most, and that we continue to make a meaningful difference in our communities.
As part of our Trustees’ Week celebration, we’ll be introducing three of our Trustees, sharing the stories behind their dedication and the inspiration that drives them.
✨ Today, we are delighted to introduce our Trustee, Sara Turner.
Sara says, “I do so appreciate the opportunity to be part of a group of strong and dedicated women working together as part of a movement to make real changes that matter in the lives of women.”
“I know only too well how important the safety and security of ‘home’ is to our emotional and physical well-being, and understand the trauma when home becomes unsafe – a place where you feel anxious and afraid. I have a strong commitment to ensuring that the support is there for those who have been both physically and psychologically harmed by the abuse of power that we define as domestic abuse. “
Sara has only recently joined West Mercia Women’s Aid as a Trustee but is already actively looking for ways in which her skills and experience can help us in our work. She has a Masters degree in Neuroscience and a particular interest in the impact of trauma and the work that can be done to help those affected to work towards recovery. She is also a wellbeing coach and a local pioneer for outdoor sport – looking to activities like open water swimming to promote resilience and positive mental – as well as physical -health.
“Knowledge is power, and I am keen to share my knowledge of how the brain and the body work together to repair the harm that trauma can cause. Understanding how you can support your own recovery can be so very empowering. I’d like to help West Mercia Women’s Aid to share this as part of our work.”
Thank you, Sara, for your invaluable contribution and for helping to make a difference in the lives of women and communities across West Mercia.
