A leading domestic abuse charity has appointed its first fundraiser.

Elizabeth Morawiecka has joined the team at West Mercia Women’s Aid, which works with domestic abuse victims in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

Based at the Hereford headquarters, Elizabeth’s role is a first for the charity, in the light of local authority spending cuts to domestic abuse services.

West Mercia Women’s Aid is supporting an international campaign that aims to celebrate women and their achievements.

International Women’s Day – which will take place on Sunday 8 March – is a global event celebrating the economic, social and political achievements of women; in China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women’s Day is a national holiday.  The first International Women’s Day was held in 1911.

With the festivities just around the corner, a leading charity in the fight against domestic abuse is sending out a clear message for victims and survivors.

West Mercia Women’s Aid – which works throughout Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire – always witnesses an increase in domestic abuse incidents over the Christmas and New Year period.
