Last month, our Worcester office was delighted to welcome Roy Francis, a local builder from Worcestershire, who stopped by to deliver an incredible £350 donation.
Roy’s fundraising began with a casual conversation at his local pub, where some friends encouraged him to take on the challenge of growing a moustache to raise “a few quid” for a good cause. What started as a light-hearted idea quickly gained momentum as Roy shared his plan with friends, family, and the wider community.
His story struck a chord with many, inspiring support not just from individuals but also from local businesses. Companies like EmDot Property Agents and Red Electrical Distribution Ltd joined in, demonstrating the power of community spirit.
When asked why he was inspired to fundraise for West Mercia Women’s Aid, Roy shared.
“I knew I wanted to support somewhere local, and someone mentioned West Mercia Women’s Aid to me. As a dad of three daughters, I want to support the work you do, and I will continue to support in the future,” he said.
Roy’s efforts are a wonderful example of how a simple idea can bring people together for a meaningful cause. His fundraising collection not only raised vital funds but also helped spread awareness of the work we do to support those affected by domestic abuse.
We are deeply touched by Roy’s generosity and the community support he inspired. Every penny of his donation will go towards providing support, protection, and prevention services to empower individuals and families to rebuild their lives.
From everyone at West Mercia Women’s Aid, we want to say a massive thank you to Roy and to everyone who contributed to his moustache fundraiser. It’s acts of kindness like these that remind us of the incredible community we’re part of.
