Helplines Awareness Day is a national campaign which takes place on 23 February each year that shines a spotlight on the incredible work of helplines across the UK. Last month we highlighted the importance of our Helpline. Every day, women pick up the phone to call our Helpline – often sharing their story for the very first time. We know how much courage that first call takes.
By setting up a regular monthly donation, you help ensure that when someone finds the courage to make that call, we are ready to answer. Your ongoing support keeps our Helpline open, our specialist staff available, and that first vital conversation possible. If you’re able to, please consider becoming a regular giver today – and help us be there for every call, every day.
As a charity, we face the challenge of relying on external support to fulfill our mission. Recurring donations will make it possible to plan, budget, and make decisions based on our available resources, ensuring that we can continue supporting our clients without interruption.
For many women who call our Helpline, this will be the first time they have reached out and shared their story. Whilst local commissioners contribute towards this vital service, every contact still incurs a direct cost to West Mercia Women’s Aid of £5. Around 2000 women contact us each year.
