WMWA are delivering the West Mercia Young Person’s Prevention Programme in partnership with The RightPath and Everyone’s Invited. We will be running community based interventions for young people 11-18 years who are less likely to be able to access this support through mainstream education. This can either be through one to one support or group mentoring.
Everyone’s Invited are offering a single awareness raising session in Schools to years 7, 8 or 9 around healthy relationships. The RightPath will offer more intensive support in Schools to small groups of students that may be presenting with negative behaviours offering one session per week for 3 consecutive weeks focussing on healthy relationships.
The Rightpath and Everyone’s Invited have made excellent progress engaging with schools across the four local authority areas and firming up bookings. A concerted effort was made before the Christmas break to get schools signed up and start delivery. The project timescales are very tight with all delivery to be concluded by 31st March 2025, so getting schools to find space in their school timetables and book has been paramount.
Our focus so far has been on project mobilisation and promotion and we have made contact with a high number of community based organisations who work with young people who may benefit from one to one and group support. We know there is a need for this intervention and we want to reach as many community groups as possible to take part in this programme. See our flyer for full details.
