Support for Men

How can you help me?

At West Mercia Women’s Aid we believe that every person has the right to live their lives free from abuse. Although we predominately work with women affected by domestic abuse we also work with partners to provide specialist services & support for men across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Telford and Wrekin. Our Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs) also work with men across the whole of West Mercia.

Am I being abused?

Domestic Abuse is not just about using physical force or seeing bruises that are visible; it is about exerting power and control over another person through the use of fear, manipulation, isolation and intimidation.  Find out more here about the different types of behaviours that can be found in abusive relationships.

What is an IDVA?

Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs) work with men affected by domestic abuse throughout West Mercia. WMWA’s IDVAs are specialist ‘safety workers’ who provide advice and support through the legal, civil and court processes for those who are at high risk of harm from domestic abuse. IDVAs also work closely with local hospitals. For more information on how our IDVAs can support you please view our IDVA page.

We work in partnership with Cranstoun to support men affected by domestic abuse. If you are experiencing domestic abuse, or have done so in a previous relationship then you can call the 24hr men’s domestic abuse Helpline where you can receive listening support and advice. We can also refer survivors to Cranstoun to access a bespoke programme of one-to-one and group support delivered by their specialist support worker.
