Herefordshire Wildlife Trust have helped us transform our communal garden into a space that attracts and provides for wildlife and creates an inviting and relaxing area for people to enjoy.

Thanks to the generous donations and the hard work of volunteers our garden has undergone a wonderful transformation. From bulbs, compost, and seeds, to materials for building a bug hotel, every contribution has added to the development of this fantastic space. The brilliant volunteers at Herefordshire Wildlife Trust have also built a mud kitchen using recycled materials, to encourage children to play outdoors.

Families were invited to join volunteers for crafts, gardening, bug hunting and games through the Nature Tots Project. Whilst this project focused on those below school age, plenty of jobs were left for the other children when they returned from school. They are eager to get involved and continue to look after the garden throughout the week, by sewing seeds, watering plants and making signs.

“We are all so very grateful and there have been lots of comments on how much nicer the garden looks. You and the team have done a fantastic job and the families are so lucky to have the opportunity to do something so wonderful!” – Children and Young People’s Worker, WMWA

This project has allowed volunteers to engage with adults and children to teach, inspire and take action for wildlife. Creating a wildlife haven and introducing wildlife friendly elements such as deadwood log piles and pollinator friendly plants to our garden. The children have created signs for the areas of the garden so that when they move on new families will know what is about to grow, and enjoy the space as they have.

Thank you again to the team at Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, those involved have hugely benefited from all of the outside experiences. We now have a beautiful established garden planted for a new season of growing, transforming it into a welcoming green space for families and wildlife enjoy.
