Payroll Giving
Make a difference every
pay day.

Payroll Giving with West Mercia Women’s Aid

Payroll Giving (also known as Give As You Earn) is an easy, convenient and tax-effective way to make regular donations. Because your gift is taken from your gross salary – before tax is deducted – it costs you less to give more.

Through Payroll Giving, you can donate directly to West Mercia Women’s Aid, receiving immediate tax relief on every donation.

Anyone who pays UK tax through PAYE can give in this way.

How much can I donate?

You choose exactly how much you would like to give each month – there is no minimum or maximum amount.

Here’s how tax relief makes your donation go further:

Basic rate (20%) taxpayers: For every £1 you earn, 20p goes to tax. If you pledge £10 a month, we receive the full £10, but it only costs £8 from your take-home pay.

Higher rate (40%) taxpayers: A £10 monthly donation costs you just £6.

Additional rate (45%) taxpayers: A £10 monthly donation costs only £5.50.

Payroll Giving is particularly beneficial for higher-rate taxpayers, as charities cannot reclaim higher-rate tax through the Gift Aid scheme.

With Payroll Giving, the tax that would have gone to HMRC comes directly to West Mercia Women’s Aid instead.

Donating to WMWA through Payroll Giving

Check with your employer to see if they offer Payroll Giving. If they do, your employer will arrange your regular donation through your salary.

If your employer doesn’t yet offer Payroll Giving, you can encourage them to set up a scheme. They will need to register with an approved Payroll Giving agency.

If your circumstances change, you can amend or cancel your donation at any time – just notify your employer.

If you move to a new job, your Payroll Giving does not transfer automatically. You’ll need to set up a new arrangement with your new employer.
