IRIS Herefordshire offers comprehensive training designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively support patients experiencing Domestic Abuse.
IRIS training programs are designed to create a knowledgeable and compassionate environment within healthcare settings, enabling professionals to respond sensitively and effectively to the needs of their patients. Together, we can make a difference in our community.
‘Excellent Training so much more aware now of cases we may be missing/afraid to ask’. Herefordshire GP.
Charmaine and Sarah deliver the training to GP surgery staff, and act as advisors for any queries that health professionals may have. The training they deliver is an intense and informative programme developed by IRISi – the national umbrella for the programme – and has been extensively evaluated for its suitability for GPs and their colleagues. Not surprisingly, feedback from participants in Herefordshire has been consistently positive.
Our training program includes the following components:
1. **Clinical Training: **
**Clinical 1 and Clinical 2:** Each consists of two engaging sessions, lasting two hours each, scheduled at least eight weeks apart. This structured approach ensures participants have ample time to absorb and apply the training concepts.
2. **Reception and Administration Training: **
A focused one-hour session tailored for reception and administrative staff, emphasizing their crucial role in identifying and supporting patients.
3. **Refresher Training for Clinical Teams: **
To maintain the highest standards of care, we offer refresher training every two years, consisting of one comprehensive two-hour session. This ensures that clinical teams remain informed about the latest practices and resources.
4. **Mop-Up Sessions: **
For surgeries that have team members who may have missed the initial training, we provide dedicated make-up sessions. This ensures that all staff members are equipped to support patients effectively.
